Motorcycle Repair: Gas Tank Problem?, bike cranks, yamaha maxim

Question
Hey Jan, just wondering if you have ever relined a gas tank with the kreem liner? I know its not a Honda hopefully should not matter considering most tanks have the same or close to the same setup. Just got a 85 Yamaha Maxim X 700 and noticed a little rust in the tank so I relined it with the kreem liner just as the directions said. There is a valve on the bottom side of the tank that I believe is called the rollover valve is clogged by the liner.  Put gas in the tank and nothing comes out of this valve like it should.  Connected all the fuel lines to gas tank and bike cranks right up but when I throttle the bike it acts like it wants bog down and cut off.  Petcock and seals are fine, tank is not leaking.  Only other thing I need is a gas cap that seals tight at the top. Could this be the problem, any suggestions.  I would appreciate all the help you could give me, ready to start riding! Thanks Jason

Answer
Yes I have used Kreem, it can get everywhere inside and block things so you need to follow the instructions carefully.  You may have to clear the lines since it sounds like your bike is suffering fuel starvation.  Don't get a sealed gas cap, your gas tank needs to vent othersiwe you will also run out of fuel due to the tank vacuum that's created.

Good luck,  Jan
