Motorcycle Repair: Cam timing, rev tech 100, cam timing

Question
QUESTION: I know you are a Harley mechanic but maybe you can help me. I am installing a new replacement cam in a generation 2 Rev Tech 100 c.i. engine. Can you tell how to time the cam using the timing marks. Like which cylinder to put on top dead center and what the timing mark should line up with?
Thank you for your time.

ANSWER: Are you refering to the timing marks on the flywheels or the marks on the cam itself?

QUESTION: I noticed there are 2 marks on the camshaft gear. I don.t know what to line them up to.  I also need to know if one of the pistons need to top dead center or use one of the valves? One more question: the push rods are color marked and different length, can you tell me what push rod color goes with what valve?
Thanks again for your time.

Answer
Looking at the cam you will see two marks. One is for the cam timing and the other is to time the breather. Look at the pinion gear that the cam rides on and you will see a mark on it. rotate the motor so the mark on the pinion gear is at 12:00. Line up the mark on the cam with it. the other mark shoud be at around 8:00. Once you have the cam lined up with the pinion gear then install the breather gear on the other mark.
On the pushrods, i dont have the color code for rev tech to give you. You would need to check with the manufacture to get that.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
