Motorcycle Repair: new grips caused clutch issues, clutch cable, stock harley

Question
I have an'07 Sportster 1200R.  I added new grips that are much thicker than stock, Harley part # 56285-98.  The clutch would not fully disengage because the lever wasn't being pulled in far enough, it was hitting the new grip sooner.  Adjusted the cable and now the clutch doesn't fully engage when released (no slack at all)and slips under power.  How do I adjust the clutch for the grips?  I hope this is enough information for you to help.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Remove the derby cover and loose the clutch adjuster lock nut then turn the clutch adjusting screw in a couple of turns now adjust the clutch cable at the cable adjuster so you have about a 1/8 of an in of free play travel at the lever now loose the clutch adjusting screw until you feel no more resistance then turn it back in about 1/4 inch tighten the lock nut and replace the cover.
