Motorcycle Repair: Hard ride: 1983 Honda CM450E, honda cm450e, tire pressure

Question
Maybe I'm just getting old, but riding my cycle 40 miles into work and back each day is getting to my butt!  Is it my imagination, or is the ride getting rougher?  What would this be a symptom of?  Soft tire pressure?  Shocks?  How often do the shocks go bad?  My cycle just rolled over 20,000 miles (*but I'm not certain if these are all the original miles or not. I've had it since July 4th, 2008 and the last 6 thousand are all mine, I'm sure.)  Thanks for any guidance.

Answer
Hi Kirk,

What kind of shape is the seat in?
Has it been shaved down for a 'vertically challenged' person?
If the seat is original or has been modified, you might need to get new foam for it. I'd recommend taking to someone who does upholstery. I had a seat re-foamed and re-covered by marine upholster once...they did a fantastic job.

As for the shocks, you can purchase aftermarket shocks for around $100 new. If they are original shocks, then I would say its time to replace them due to age.
You might want to try these guys. I've never purchased from them, but it looks like they have shocks for older bikes:
