Motorcycle Repair: 86 FXST Solenoid/Starter ???, solenoid starter, starter relay

Question
QUESTION: Won't start Just get a click from the solenoid when I press start an I lose power until something resets Battery has power and I replaced the solenoid, starter, and starter relay Problem still persists I have power 2 the solenoid but can't get anything through it also won't start by crossing threads on solenoid with a screwdriver It just clicks an acts like it shorts out n I lose power same as when I use the start button...

ANSWER: Check your battery wires on both ends. Make sure you have a good ground. When you press the starter button you dont have power going from the solenoid to the starter? Have you had your battery tested?

QUESTION: Correct..there is no power from the solenoid to the starter There is power to the solenoid and yes the battery is good I checked the wires both ends n ground all looks good Could it b a fuse or circuit breaker or somethin??? Ignition???

Answer
If you have 12 volts going from the starter relay to the solenoid and you have 12 volts at the post on the solenoid from the battery and no power at the other post, then either the solenoid is bad or the jackshaft is bad. There is not fuse for your starting system. You can try taking a jump wire and go from the battery to the post on the solenoid that goes to the starter and see if the starter turns.
Good luck and happy riding
