Motorcycle Repair: 82 Honda CB650 wont start, honda cb650, honda nighthawk

Question
OK i have a Honda nighthawk cb650 it started fine two days ago when i pressed the button my father in law drove it around to get the gas through it. when i went to start it later that night it turned over fine but now it wont the battery is on a trickle charger and all i hear is a click when i release the button. i have changed the spark plugs, cleaned the carbs, new air filter, oil change, new battery, and new fuses.

Answer
Sounds like your solenoid may have gone bad.  Check that you are getting 12V at the starter motor when you press the start button.  If you hear a click, then the solenoid is activating but perhaps not making a good contact.  If you are getting 12V at the starter, then it's possible that the starter itself has failed.
