Motorcycle Repair: 1983 yamaha xt250 fuel problems, yamaha xt250, fuel problems

I have a 1983 Yamaha xt250 that wont start as easily as it use to. Once it starts, it will idle prefectly, but, when I lay on the throttle, it will bogg down. I took the Carb. off and cleaned it out and cheched the gasgets and washers and it still doesn't run. it will bogg down when i open up the throttle. I was woundering if you had any ideas, or solutions to this problem?

When you took the carb off, did you also clean out the jets and the needle?  Sounds like you need to check the jets in order to get the bike running right.  Also check that the air filter is clean, and that the exhaust does not have a blockage.  Good luck,  Jan
