Motorcycle Repair: Torque specs for exhaust on 1976 cb400f, exhaust leaks, torque specs

Question
Hi there,

I have a 1976 cb 400f. I can't seem to find the torque specs for the nuts attaching the pipes to the engine. I just don't want to crack the engine.
Also I had to change the muffler, it's not an O.E.M. DO I have to do anything except bolt it on ?

Any help is appreciated
Sincerely
Craig

Answer
Well the key is that the bolts are tight enough that they don't fall off, and that you do not have any exhaust leaks.  Use new gaskets unless the old ones are in good shape, and make sure you put the collets on correctly.  They do not have to be any specific torque, use common sense.  Good luck,  Jan
