Motorcycle Repair: 1978 Shovelhead, shovelhead, front end wobble

Question
Hello, I have a 1978 Shovelhead FL I have been experiencing a bad front end wobble between 40 to 50 MPH. Recently I removed my front wheel and the bearings were shot upon replacement I still have the wobble. just wondering where I should go next into the steering stem or the wheel itself maybe? Any ideas? Thanks for you time...

Answer
When you replaced the bearing did the you replace the race as well? If not then you will get a wobble. I would check the steering neck bearing. You can check it by holding the bike over on the stand so the front wheel is off the ground or put it on a stand. then try to move the front wheel foward and backwards, inline with the frame. If it moves then the bearing is either damaged or to loose
Good luck and happy riding
