Motorcycle Repair: 1984 500 shadow, pin holes, rubber pieces

Question
Hello Deron, I have an 1984 honda shadow that has been sitting a couple years. It starts and idles fine but when accelerating it runs smooth till around 4500rpm's then it falls flat like I smothered the air or stopped fuel flow. I installed new plugs but it doesn't seem to help. Anything you could recommend would be appreciated. Thanks, Kevin.

Answer
Kevin,

Remove your carbs and clean them thoroughly, Make sure that all of the rubber pieces are intact(diaphragms, intake manifolds etc.) IF your bike has air cutoff valves on the sides of the carbs, (im not sure on this) then make sure that they arent ripped or have pin holes in them...

Make sure that your fuel petcock is clean and flows fuel fully...

HOpe this helps
