Motorcycle Repair: Throttle Cable Adjustment, honda xr80r, throttle cables

Question
Mr. Wells, I know your expertise is on Harley's, but this is a generic question that I thought you may be able to answer for me. I rebuilt the carb on a Honda XR80R dirtbike and the throttle is too slack. It has no resistance when you give it gas and I didn't know if the adjustment of the cable was similar to other bikes. If this is a stupid question I apologize but I can't figure out how to adjust the assembly to put the proper tension on the throttle.

Thanks, David

Answer
Most throttle cables have an adjuster on them. You would have to follow the cable and locate the adjuster. It would be a turning point ont he cable. If you dont have one then you would have to look on the carb and see if there is an adjuster on it.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
