Motorcycle Repair: brake light problem, 100th anniversary, sportster

I recently change the bars on my 100th anniversary 883 sportster and my brake light was stuck on, i had a play about with the lever trying to sort it out, i turned the ignition off then back on and i had no tail light or brake light, another play about with it got the tail light working again but still no brake light, I've checked the bulb but and it seems ok it doesn't work with either front brake or back brake or both together, i don't know whether its just the switch on the front or not???

Check both switches to see if you have power to them. There should be two wires to each. one hot and the other going to the light. If you have power then press one at a time and check the other wire. that is the power going to the light. If you have power there then you need to follow the power to the light and see if you have a bad connection
