Motorcycle Repair: installing a aftermarket bolt on exhaust, fuel injection system, cbr954rr

Question
i have a 2002 cbr954rr. i bought a hindle bolt on exhaust. the bike is completly stock. can i install the bolt on without doing anything else to the bike? some say it will run fine others say i half to get a power commander for it to run right with just a bolt on . any idea?

Answer
Any time you make a radical change to the intake or exhaust system you need to make a corresponding change to the fuel injection system to compensate. If a performance gain is what you're after, you should also replace the air filter with a high flow design like what is offered from K&N and then install a Power Commander to match the fuel injection to the new intake and exhaust parameters. The best way to do this is with the use of a dynamometer, which most sport bike dealers will have (or will know where there is one). However, if all you want is more sound from the exhaust then you still should install a Power Commander, anyway.
