Motorcycle Repair: Rear tire, harley davidson fat boy, axle nut

Question
QUESTION:   I know this may sound stupid but I have never worked on my own bike (besides basic stuff) and I want to remove the rear tire so that I can replace the rotor and put on a sprocket cover, I have never done anything like this nor seen it done, any help would be great regarding how I remove the tire and the belt from the drive, thank you.

ANSWER: What year and model?

Answer
Remember, no question is a stupid question. Its all a learning process.
First, what you need to do is jack up the bike so there is no pressure on the rear tire. Nest, remove the exhaust, if it is in the way. mark the axle, where the adjuster is, so you can get it back in the correct location. Remove the axle nut and slide the axle through. Push the tire foward and slip the belt off. Now jack the bike up so you can get the wheel out. Be careful, as there are spacers between the frame and wheel, so make sure you get them back in right. remove the rotor and install the new ones and install the wheel in reverse order. When you are installing hte wheel it will help to pry the brake pads apart so the rotor slips in with problems
Good luck and happy riding
