Motorcycle Repair: 1982 CB900, cb900, oil filter

Question
HI, MY NAME IS JIMBO!  I HAVE A CB900. AFTER RUNNING OUT OF GAS, AND HAVING TO SETTLE FOR WHAT WAS IN THE GAS CAN, THE BIKE STARTED TO RUN LIKE CRAP!  SO AFTER CLEANING THE CARBS (OFF THE BIKE) CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS, OIL AND OIL FILTER, THE BIKE RUNS THE SAME!  BUT NOW WHEN I PUT IT IN GEAR IT DIES WITHOUT RELEASING THE CLUTCH!!!!   HELP!

Answer
Jimbo, it's not running on all cylinders.  You can find the dead cylinders by spraying water on the pipe after the engine is running for a few minutes.  The hot pipe will sizzle and the dead ones won't.  Once you figure that out, you'll have some idea about what the problem is.  If it's one cylinder, it's probably still in the carbs. If it's two cylinders togehter 2&4 or 1&3, it's probably ignition.
