Motorcycle Repair: STARTING, compression gauge, russell kelley

Question
I HAVE A 1994 HONDA CR 125R AND I RECENTLY HAD IT BORED OUT TO 80 OVER.  MY POWER VALVES WEREN'T SET CORRECTLY AND I HAVE DISCOVERED IT HAS GOT MY PISTON A LITTLE.  I HAD THE POWER VALVES SET RIGHT AND I STARTED IT BEFORE I LEFT THE MECHANICS PLACE.  THE GOVERNOR HAD TO BE ADJUSTED ALSO.  I GOT IT HOME AND I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET IT STARTED.  IT SEEMS LIKE IT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH COMPRESSION, BUT I WAS ABLE TO START IT AT THE MECHANICS PLACE.  I CAN PUSH THE KICK DOWN FAIRLY EASLY WITH MY HAND.  MY QUESTION IS, DO YOU THINK THIS COULD BE THE PROBLEM?  I HAVE FIRE THROUGH MY PLUG AND I HAVE GAS GOING IN, BUT THEN IT FLOODS.  I SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO KICK THAT OVER VERY EASY WITH IT BEING BORED 80 OVER SHOULD I?  I WANT TO GET THIS BIKE UP TO PAR AS TO WHERE IF I AM PLAYING AND IT DIES, IT WOULD ONLY TAKE 1 OR 2 KICKS TO START IT.  WHAT ARE YOU SUGGESTIONS?

THANKS,

RUSSELL KELLEY

Answer
Hi Russell,

Whoa! Turn off the caps, pal.

There's too many possibilities to mention and a lack of data to go on. I suggest returning it to the place that completed the repairs and have them fix it properly. Or take it to another shop for inspection. If all was well before the big bore went in, it's on them.

Have you checked cylinder compression with a compression gauge? If so, what are the readings?
