Motorcycle Repair: RE: Revving, bike shop, synch

Question
I noticed the other day that my bike had not come down from revving after traveling on highway to a stop.  When I cam to a stop it stayed revved up I let the clutch out and it did come down eventually.  It stopped backfiring too, I have short pipes and it is normal for a backfire.  So I messed with the Idle adjustment and maybe I was wrong but it doesn't sound right now.  Help?

Answer
Stuart, you didn't tell me what make, model and year of bike you have, so it's going to be very hard for me to help. But I'll put on my Amazing Kreskin hat and take a shot in the dark, anyway...

If your bike has CV carbs on it the high idle is caused by them being out of synch. If you have more than one carb on the motor, then you need to adjust the idle screws exactly the same or the bike will not run properly. If you don't know how to do a carb synch, you should take it to a reputable bike shop soon and have them do it.
