Car Stereos: Need help optimizing my sub and amp., dual voice coil, ohm voice coils

Question
I recently bought a Orion 15" dual voice coil sub along with a Blapunkt 125x2 amp and box.  The amp has settings for bass boost,80 or 120 hz, lp hp or off, and mono stereo left or right.  I currently have the voice coils wired seperately to the speaker outputs and would like to know it there is a better way to wire the speakers and adjust the amp to get more power.  Please let me know the optimal wiring and settings.  Thanks!

Answer
In this particular application I highly recommend you ensure the amplifier is running in MONO as each voice coil should be seeing identical signals in order to work at peak efficiency. If they are 4 ohm voice coils, the should be wired in series to present an 8 ohm load as I'm fairly certain that your Blau amp doesn't have the capability to run below 2 ohms in Mono (amps "see" half the input impedance when the amps bridged.. meaning if you input a 4 ohm load in mono, the amp behaves like it sees a 2 ohm load) The bass boost is set simply as a listener preference. The crossover should definitely be set to LP
