Motorcycle Repair: adjustin my clutch, harley chopper, clutch plate

Question
hey mike I have a harley chopper with a rachet top trany. I need a little help readjustin my clutch. it's a late model trany. I have a open belt primary with 3" belt. I need help with adjusting the clutch arm, how far screw in the nuts on the spprings and the metering screw.

Answer
For the springs adjustment, its 1 3/32 space fromt he front plate to the plate the goes against the clutch plate. To adjust the clutch itself, loosen the cable so you have slack in it. Turn the adjusting screw, on the clutch, outward and then inward, just until it touches. They back it out about 1/8 of a turn. Go back to the clutch cable and adjust it so you have about 1/8 inch play int he clutch lever
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
