Motorcycle Repair: choke lever, clutch lever, gl1200

Question
I've been looking everywhere on the internet. I've broken my choke lever on my '84 GL1200 and am looking for some way to replace it. The problem is this is a very modified goldwing with a 1" handlebar. So the OEM replacement won't directly fit. Any ideas you have would be appreciated.

Answer
It would be impossible for me to tell you where to get a replacement clutch lever without knowing where the part that is on the bike came from originally.

This is why I always recommend keeping a complete record of the make/model/year that each part came from when you are replacing anything with non-stock parts.

The only thing suggestions I can make are:
1) Take the parts from the broken lever to a reputable bike wrecker and ask them if they have something similar. Be prepared to modify something that is not an exact replacement if necesary.
2) Consider changing to a completely different choke control.
When I set my CX650E up for winter sidecar duty I changed to a Honda touring fairing from a GL1100, which necesitated changing to higher handlebars. The original choke cable was about 6-8" too short so I bought a universal replacement automotive choke cable and mounted the button on the fairing.
