Motorcycle Repair: 1980 CX500, 1980 honda cx500, delivery problem

Question
I have a 1980 Honda CX500. When i am accelerating and my revs hit 6000 the bike starts to sputter until i am past 7000, then it pickups up again and it is just fine. It is only between about 6000-7000rpm. All other rpm is fine. What should i be looking for?

Answer
I sounds like it's starved for fuel.  I can't understand why it's only at that one speed though.  Try putting a little choke on and see if it doesn't go away.  If it does, it a fuel delivery problem. If it doesn't, it could be ignition.  I suppose the spark boxes or pulse coils could have a filter problem that causes it to be speed selective when it acts up.
