Motorcycle Repair: re-building primary on 96 elctro glide classic, manual haynes, electra glide classic

If you're going to attempt a primary rebuild, you really should have a service manual. Haynes or Clymer sell them for cheaper than the factory version and they have the benefit of showing you how to do things without the factory tools. Here is one site where you can order them from:
