Motorcycle Repair: chave a carb problem i think, slow jet, vacuum

man my ole rat is a 1999 sporty 883/1200XL.the thing seems to start fine.it hits like the timing is just right. just as soon as you push the enricher/choke in it dies like you turned the gas right off. i have a fresh kit in the carb that is all stock except a 45 slow jet to match my pipes. plese help.

Are you starting the bike for the first time since putting that kit in the carb. If you have a stock CV carb you could have pinched the vacuum boot when reinstalling it and it got a hole in it causing it not to hold vacuum. Or is it that you just need to turn up the idle adjustment.
