Motorcycle Repair: 1991 Sportster 2 questions, rear muffler, tank drain

91 sporty, 1200cc. First Harley, rode triumphs before...yes, I can hear the oh man......oil change...the book (haynes) says if no drain plug on oil tank (there isnt) remove oil tank drain hose from from the lug at rear muffler mount and lower disconnected hose....is the drain hose the one at bottom of tank, and how do I  drain oil from engine itself, or does all the oil come out from the tank? Whats a good grade of oil to use that wont break my wallet? I am in ohio, and am thinking of straight 50w, but cant find it in synthetic. also, book calls for spark plug # 6R12, is there a better plug to use? I fell in love with bosch for my triumphs, and my 78 goldwing rolling couch...and

yes, the drain hose is at the bottom of the tank. Its the short one. There is no drain for the motor, so you cant drain it. Use 20w50 for your bike, not straight 50w. you can get 20w50 in synthetic. The 6R12 plug is a good plug, but if you want to go to a cheaper plug use a Champion. The Harley plug costs more because it says harley
