Motorcycle Repair: 1969 SL90, wiringdiagrams, oldmanhonda

Question
I have a sweet '69 Honda SL 90.  I bought it off a guy last august and have put almost 2,000 miles on it.  The other day i noticed it kept shutting off when I would turn the handlebars all the way to one side or the other, indicating some kind of loose electrical connection (?)  I took the headlight assembly apart and checked everything but it all looked good.  The battery is good too.  Just for kicks i checked to see if it was getting spark but it wasn't.  Also the headlights wont come on when I turn the ignition key, along with the green neutral indicator light. All other connections looked and felt good.  I know you prefer bigger bikes but could you please send me in some sort of direction?

Answer
John, that is a great bike and only made for one year.

There is a kill switch on the handlebars, that either needs cleaning or has a loose wire connection. Take the handlebar switches off and clean the contacts with contact cleaner. Move them back and forth a few times to help clear the gunk out of the contacts. The switches will come apart, if you are brave and put something on the floor to catch the spring and detent balls.! :>)

Lights don't come on with the ignition switch unless the headlight switch is ON. These were built before the days of automatic ON headlights.
