Motorcycle Repair: wanting to become a motorbiker engineer, internal combustion engine, speedo cable

Question
QUESTION: my m.p.h speedo has stoped working, i've stiped the bike down, taken the m.p.h cable out and put it back but still no luck what do you think. the bikes a 125 honda

ANSWER: Gianni, disconnect the speedo cable from the bottom of the speedometer.  Lift the front wheel off the ground and then spin the front tire.  Does the cable turn?  If not, the problem is down on the spedometer drive on the front axle.  If it does spin, the problem is in the speedometer. If you take a small flat blade screwdriver and put it in the speedo drive and give it a quick spin the needle should move.  If it doesn't, the speedo will need to be replaced.

QUESTION: Do you know what course i need to take to be a motorbike engineer.
Do you know of any compenise big or small i could get in contact with.
Thanks for the advise on the speedo, just waiting for the part to come in.

Answer
Gianni, if you are wanting to be an engineer, you'll want to go to college to take mechanical engineerin.  If you want to be a technician, so you learn to work on them, there are a number of trade schools for that.  I'd recommend you try your local motorcycle shop.  They may have an opening for junior mechanic or some other entry level position where you would have a chance to learn about motorcycles.  If you have a real interest in it, they won't be able to keep you out of that work.

I started while in college and it helped pay my why as I studied mechanical engineering.  When in college, take as many internal combustion engine course that you can afford.  It will give you insight on how engines really work.
