Motorcycle Repair: 82 kawasaki spectre 750 fuses, kawasaki spectre, metal probes

Question
How do I check my fuses with a vohometer ?  I need to know what setting.  I have 2 different types of vohometers.  Well it says analog multimeter.

Answer
A Voltmeter usually has four different ranges on its dial - DC volts, AC volts, Amperage and Resistance (Ohms). You want the Resistance setting, which is sometimes indicated by a funny looking symbol that kind of looks like a flat tire. Put the dial on the lowest setting in this range, then place the metal probes on each side of the fuse - it doesn't matter which side the red or black wires go to, as that is only important when checking voltage. Make sure the ignition is OFF when checking fuses, as live circuits can fry a Voltmeter when it is set on the Resistance range. It is best to remove the fuse from the fusebox and check it rather than leave it in the holder, as sometimes you can get a false reading that way.

A fuse is blown if the needle on the meter doesn't move when you place the probes on both sides of the fuse. A fuse is okay if the needle on the meter swings all the way over to the "zero" side of the scale. Some voltmeters will also emit a beeping sound if a fuse is good.
