Motorcycle Repair: bringin it back to life, honda cl360, great shape

I was just given a 1975 Honda  CL360. the gas tank has rust in it and it hasn't been run in years, i'm getting a new batteryfo6rn tomorrow. the bike is very clean and in great shape, . .on the outside. where should i start? oh yeah, its my first bike.

Erik, you need to start by cleaning out the fuel tank and sealing it up.  Next, take the carbs apart and clean them out.  Make sure the jets and passages are all clean and clear and the float level is set correctly.  Next change the oil and lubricate the cables and chain.  I'd recommend you also set the valves and the ignition timing.  Be sure to charge the battery before trying to start it.
