Motorcycle Repair: Fuel Tank, gas line antifreeze, water in the fuel

Question
I'm not sure if you can answer these questions, but I'll ask, and if you can't answer them, then i'm sorry for wasting your time.

1. What happens to a motorcycle if water gets into the fuel tank?  Does it die?, or Ruin any parts?

2.  If so, how can you fix that problem?

It can be any general bike.  Not for a specific bike.

Answer
Sam, if you get water in the fuel tank, the engine will die at some point. It's unlikely it will ruin anything but you have to get it cleaned out.  You can drain the tank by pulling the fuel line off the carbs and drain the fuel into a gas can or some other suitable container. You need to open the float bowl drain screws and drain out the carbs.  You then can leave the tank cap open until it all drys out or you can refill with fresh gas and then add a small amount of gas line antifreeze to absorb any water still left in the system.  Just don't add too much antifreeze or the bike won't run well.
