Motorcycle Repair: Synthetic oil usage, synthetic motor oil, high mileage

Hello, I have a 1991 FXSTC. It is a high mileage bike and I am wanting to know if it would be a good idea to switch to synthetic motor oil? I have always run HD 20W-50 in the engine. What differences/problems can I expect to see if I go this route, and do you recommend any certain oil? Thanx

i know that using synthetic will make the bike run cooler and is suppose to last longer. The problem I see is the high cost and once you go to synthetic you shouldnt go back to regular motor oil. Really there is no problems with switching. Amsol makes a very good synthetic oil.
