Motorcycle Repair: starter, xlh, stock front

Question
Is it possible to convert my 1969 sportster xlch kick only to electric start? Also can you explain what the xl,xlh, xlch stands for?

Answer
Does your motor have a blank plate on the back side of the primary area under the oil tank. If it does the you can install an electric start. Depending on the year, in the 60's XLH ment it had a circuit breaker timer and factory low pipes while the XLCH had a mag and factory high pipes. In the 70's XLH ment it had electric start while the XLCH had kick start only. XLS came out in the 80's and it was electric start with a 2" over stock front end.
