Motorcycle Repair: Idle problems, new bikes, sensers

Question
I have a 07 FXDC that most days has a idle with a mind of it's own. Most of the time after a brief freeway 16 mile trip when I come to a stop the idle we be to low, low enough that I have to keep it from stalling. Also, I it will back fire when I am down shifting, usually one big fart in each gear. There are other instances were it idles too high. I can usually pull off shut it off and wait a minute or two, crank it back up and everything is fine, then it may or may not repeat the problem again before shutting it off. At time the problem goes away on it's own with out shutting it off. I am stumped. Took it to the dealer and or course the bike was behaving and wouldn't do it. Someone told me it might be a cam sensor. Any ideas?

Answer
The problem with the new bikes is there are so many sensers that it is hard to tell which one it is, unless you just start changing them out until you find it and that would really be very expensive. The only way to be sure is have a dianostic run on the bike when its happening so you know which senser to change
Good luck and happy riding
