Question
QUESTION: mike , have a problem at 70 miles an hour, bike will shut off, have had the carb., cleaned two times, checked fuel screen in side of tank, replaced fuel line ,changed out tank caps , ran bike also without a gas cap ,replaced the coil, last run bike run ok till about 65 , then at 70 it would die, restarted, stayed under 60, bike made it home, what would you check next ? thanks for your time

ANSWER: What ignition are you running? When you say it shuts off, once you get below 70 does it immediality restart without having to stop and wait? it will start while you are coasting? When it shuts off is it like turning the key off or does it sputter and shut off?

QUESTION: Mike, the bike will shut off as it reach 70, will run up to that point ,at 65 you have no problem at 70 ,bike will quit as sputter and shuts off,  may start at 40, if it wants to, 95% of the time, will have to come to a complete stop wait a minute and restart , then if you keep speed around 50 to 60 bike will run. as for as ignition , what came on the bike, it is total stock. tks. chris

Answer
There are two different reasons for your problem. One is gas starved. Go for a ride with the air cleaner off. When it starts to shut off or shuts off, give it a shot of starting fluid and see if it keeps running. Your float in the carb might be sticking.
The other problem is the ignition is breaking down and shutting the bike off.
Good luck and happy riding
