Motorcycle Repair: stator check, ohm meter, softtail

i need the procedure for testing stator for 05 softtail as i have burned up a 2nd regulator.

Answer
First, unplug the regulator. At the plug for the stator go from one pin to ground with a OHM meter, then the other. Should show no OHMs. Then go from pin to pin. Should show about .2 OHMs. Then start the bike and with a AC volt meter check the voltage output. Should be around 60 volts. If it fails any of the above tests then the staot is bad
