Motorcycle Repair: 1987 Honda VT700C Shadow, houseofmotorcycles, plug caps

Question
The bike runs on one cylinder.I checked the pulse generators and they checked out ok.But i tryed a differant set anyway.Didn't help.I tryed  a differant set of coils  and then it ran on both cylinders for a little bit and now it has good spark on one side and very little spark on the other side. Can you help me?   Jim Christensen

Answer
Jim, if all of your electrical connections are clean and tight, the spark plug caps are good...(around 5k ohms) and the pulse coils and ignition coils are different, then the final component is the ignition module.

That is an expensive part, so try to find a good used one at a salvage yard. Should be a few floating around the country I would think. Check Ebay for them, too. There is also a couple of Shadow rider enthusiast groups on Yahoo or they have their own sites.
