Motorcycle Repair: Rear Brake Pads 99 Softail, room hope, maneuvering room

Question
I can't get the caliper of the rotor.  I take out the two bolts, release pressure on the fluid, just as the manual instructs, but the caliper is hanging up on something.  It will come part way off but catches on something and  I don't want to force it off.

Answer
At the shop I worked at I didn't work on the brakes only engines and transmissions on those models but I do remember the guys having a bit of trouble getting those calipers off at times. Are you sure that you've removed the bolts for the caliper and not the ones that hold on the entire bracket. If you have gotten the ones for the caliper if you've got the bike on some sort of center lift so the rear tire is off of the ground could you let some air out of the rear tire to get the caliper off. Or could you push the piston in some on the caliper to give you some more maneuvering room. Hope this helps.
