Motorcycle Repair: 1974 honda cb200 front brake, honda cb200, thrust plate

Question
Hi Rich!  I have a 74 cb200 with 7600 miles on the clock.  I have been rebuilding this bike as a hobby and have found the front disc brake is shot!   The cylinder and thrust plate are rusted and spare parts are impossible to find.  I read somewhere that possibly a 360 or 400/4 hydraulic front brake would possibly bolt right up to the cb200's mounts.  Is this true or should I go to a front drum brake?  I really want to get this thing running on a full time basis.  If I can go with the hydraulic front brake, do I need to change the right hand controls completely or can I just add the master cylinder?  Thanks in advance...kevin

Answer
Kevin, many of those components were common but I can't say for sure if they are interchangeable. You will probably have to find one and check it out.  If it has a hydraulic disc already, you only have to find a caliper that will bolt up to your mount. The master cylinder will probably work just fine.
