Motorcycle Repair: 1990 heritage softail, inch gap, cold motor

Question
QUESTION: Hi,my heritage broke down lately when i was out for a ride, the bike just died out.I checked fuel and i have spark at plugs.I cleaned out carb and put fresh gas in,still no start,I checked ignition switch, kill switch relays and wiring loomcleaned all block connectors but still no spark, replaced ignition coil with new one still no start, theres a good fat purple spark at plugs and it will jump a 3/8 inch gap no problem.Still no start!,could it be the pickup coil?,i also did a compression test which gave readings of 50psi in both pots.the bike has being going great up to this and started with no problems,i know the compression is low,but as it was running ok i dont think that lack of compression is the problem,as i said the bike just died and will not start now.Thanking you in advance Al.

ANSWER: Lloking down the throat of the carb, when you twist the throttle, are you getting a squirt of fuel?

QUESTION: Yes Mike, it's getting plenty fuel, as you say when the throttle is twisted it's injecting fuel down the carb!.

Answer
Its not the pickup, since you have a spark. The pickup is nothing more than a on off switch for the spark.
When you pulled your plugs, what color were they? I am going to assumn that you did the compression test with a cold motor. If you did then it would be low. Check your picup plate, did it move?
