Motorcycle Repair: sputter, harley dealer, question thanks

Question
QUESTION: I have a '96 Heritage with about 40K on it. I recently replaced the starter and at same time the plugs/oil/filter too. The plugs were from a Harley dealer so the gap is ok-I checked them anyway. Now that all is back together she starts up fine when cold. But hard to restart when hot and sputters in first gear(hesitates). Once up and running on speed it is fine. WHat gives?  Thanks   Jim

ANSWER: Since your bike ran fine before changing the plugs, I would try another set of plugs or the old plugs. You might have gottena bad plug.
Good luck and happy riding

QUESTION: Thanks for the help again Mike. You were right on about the plugs. New set solved all the issues. I tried bringing the set I purchased back to Harley dealer, they would not refund my money. I was not happy to say the least. They sell me defective merchandiseand say too bad. I will never go there for anything. Thanks again          Jim

Answer
Nest time you change plugs, get a set of Champions. They are cheaper and do the same thing as the harley plugs. Harley plugs are more expensive because they say harley, not because they are any better. I think its sad that a dealer wont replace a defective plug, but I see that happen alot with electrical parts
