Nissan Repair: 1998 altima cps, camshaft position sensor, camshaft

first of all thanks for the response.  real quick, the time i started the car, while i was cranking the car my brother was adjusting the distributor at which time the car started.  a day later it wouldn't start, i adjusted the distributor again and the car started again.  a day later it wont start.  what problem do you think i have?  is it the camshaft position sensor?  i going to test the cps following  your diagram, but if you have any other suggestion please let me know

How are you adjusting the distributor? Moving it retard or advance, or does it matter? As long as you make some adjustment, then the vehicle starts? After it starts are you moving it back to where it was?

You are correct. The first thing i would check is the CPS
