Motorcycle Repair: Honda XL185 Oil leak, valve stem seals, honda xl185

Hi there. My Fiance is having problems with his bike.its a honda xl185 1987 model.The engine has been stripped a few times but there is still clean oil leaking from the exhaust pipe. The head gasket set, valve stem seals and rings are all brand new and valves are lapped. do you have any suggestions?

Beth, the only thing I can think of is that the rings are not fitted correctly.  The rings could have been installed upside down, or have to much clearance to the wall or too much ring end gap. It's also possible the finish on the cylinder wall could be too rough.
