Motorcycle Repair: no throttle response (continued), air fuel mixture, spark plug wires

Question
QUESTION: Mike, I am using a S&S "G" model carb. The lifters are hydraulic and the exhaust is aftermarket type wilth torque cones installed. There is NO popping through the carb or exhaust. Just lack of power when the throttle is rolled.

ANSWER: It sounds like your carb is jetted to big, which would cause the lack of power. Clean your plugs and go with the next size smaller jet and test ride. Make sure you adjust the air/fuel mixture after changing jets or any time you change jets. Also, turn the pumper off when test riding.
Let me know how it runs

QUESTION: Mike, changed out main jet from .074 to .072 the lowest one, also, the intermiate jet installed is the lowest one in the kit .0295, Same results, when the bike starts and is cold it revs somewhat ok. Seems adjustment would clear that, but once the bike warms up it goes to crap. I cant even make adjustment to carb let alone get it out on the road. Im still concerned about that ultima single fire ignition possible breaking down. The coil, spark plug wires and plugs have all been changed out.

Answer
The jets you are using should make the bike run with maybe a little miss, but it should still run well enough to ride.
the only other thing i can suggest, is to change out the ignition to a know good one and then test ride. Its pretty rare, but I have seen ignitions work when cold, and then not work when hot, but usually they just shut off and not work at all.
