Motorcycle Repair: Changing Shocks, progressive shocks, cables and wiring

Question
I have a 06 XL883C, I want to lower my bike, plus feel like I ride in it not on it.  If that makes sense.  What about Progressive 412 12.5 with lowering blocks.  I weigh 119 lbs, 5'3".  Also, I strain to reach the bars, should I do the new pull backs or use risers with pull back?

Answer
The Progressive shocks will give you a better ride than the stock ones. As to lowering, if you lower the rear you need to lower the front or you will change the way the bike handles. You can lower the rear by about an inch, but dont go lower. You would be taking a chance of hitting the tire on the fender.
On the handle bars, sit on the bike and put your hands where they feel comfortable and your not reaching. then see what you need to adjust, the rise or the pullback. Remember, if you go to much you will have to change the cables and wiring
