1988 Honda Shadow VLX 600, been sitting for 6 or so months. It will start, runs rough, but when I take the choke off, and give it fuel, it stalls

Charles, you can try the Yamaha carb cleaner product, mixed with gasoline and fed to the carbs. Most likely, they will have to come off for cleaning of the float bowl and the tiny idle jets, which are plugged from old fuel. Always use Sta-Bil or similar fuel stabilizer when the bike isn't being driven regularly.
