Motorcycle Repair: 2003 Honda VT750CD electrical conduction issue?, honda ace, speedometer needle

Question
reference-- http://en.allexperts.com/q/Motorcycle-Repair-837/2000-Honda-ACE-vt750cd.htm    That post sounded so close to my experience, tweaks are: 2003 Honda ACE VT750CD Shadow Deluxe 4500 mi The iffy starts began at the same time the engine/electric cutting out/shorting out while riding,  mostly, when it occured, while throttling.  The speedometer needle jumps and the coolant indicator lights up.   We suspect possibly faulty ignition coils or an ignition module. How do we know which, if either? And, if neither, or you have other suspects please inform.

Answer
Ina, you will have to run down a good wiring diagram for your bike, to begin with. There are too many connections and components to contain in this forum.

First, have the battery fully charged and load tested to see if that is the primary source of your problems. All the electrical connectors should be inspected, especially those in the ignition switch and the handlebar kill switch.

Another thing that can cause major headaches is a bad ground wire/cable connection. Again, test and verify that all electrical connections are clean and sound.
