Motorcycle Repair: Changing triple trees, fork tubes, triple trees

QUESTION: I have a 2006 nightrain with the stock 3 degree tripple tree. I want to change them to a 5 or possible 7 degree tripple tree. Do I need to chnage my stock forks out for longer ones?

ANSWER: you will need to change just the fork tubes, not the whole fork.

QUESTION: what size do you recomend? I did by the black lower tubes to replace the stock ones.

Will this also lower the front and stretch the look of it? is 7 degree to far?


Answer
Adding the 7 degree will be fine and give the bike a streched look. If you dont lengthen the forks then the fron end will be to low, so you need to go longer. To determine what length you need install the new triple trees, have the bike sitting level, and measure from the top where the tubes will go to where the front axle will be. then measure the old tubes and subtract the number you get and it will tell you the new length
