Motorcycle Repair: mpg, air fuel mixture, engine efficiency

i hav a 74 cb350 four iv been lookin up info on the bike and found that they can get arould 55mpg, but my bike only gets around 30mpg and im wondering what kinda thangs i can do to get better mpg.

I'd start with a thorough tune up. Make sure the timing advance is working and advancing to full advance at the right speed.  If you're getting 30 mpg in town driving, that would be about right.  If it's high way mileage, it's a low indicating a poor engine efficiency.  There are two problems that would lower the performance that much.  A carb setting that is really rich in air fuel mixture or ignition timing that is pretty far off.
