Motorcycle Repair: starter, gear teeth, screw driver

Question
QUESTION: Hey Mike... Jim here and have pulled the starter out of my bike. The problem I have now is how do I get the armature back into the brushes in end cap? Is there a special service tool or a trick of the trade? I guess I should not have pulled the cap off. Wanted to check the gear teeth. Let me know what you think.  Thanks

ANSWER: What year and model?

Answer
The bearings should just press in. You might have to use a socket the same size as the inside of the bearing race and knock them in.
the brushes which are on springs have to be pushed in to install. Cock the brush holder to one side and get one started and then work your way around
Good luck and happy riding
