Suzuki: Suzuki Free wheel hubs, suzki vitara, free wheeling hubs

Question
My 1998 Suzki vitara is an exelent offroad machine, but I'v had enough of turning the free wheeling hubs on and off. Is it damaging do drive it on normal roads with the hub still engaged? Also what is the max speed anyone should drive in 4h on a wet road?

Answer
You can leave the hubs in, but as soon as you get to hardpacked dirt, take the transfer case out of 4wd.  It unnecessarily and excessively wears tires, gears, and bearings to drive in 4wd on pavement of any kind, unless snowy/icy.  Driving in 4wd on a wet road considerably increases the chance that you will loose control if you hydroplane.  Don't do it.
