Motorcycle Repair: 2000 dyna 88ci engine, piston damage, cam bearings

Question
DO THE TWIN CAM MOTORS HAVE A HISTORY OF OIL PRESSURE FAILURE? MINE HAS FAILED TWICE IN LESS THAN 7000 MILES. BOTH TIMES BECAUSE THE BYPASS [RELIEF] VALVE ON THE CAM PLATE STUCK AND PRESSURE WOULD NOT COME UP.THIS LAST TIME THE TWO CAM BEARINGS ON THE SUPPORT FAILED.THE INNER CAM CHAIN SHEARED AND IF THIS IS AN INTERFERENCE MOTOR I PROBABLY HAVE VALVE AND PISTON DAMAGE.WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS IF THE SCREAMING EAGLE BILLET CAM PLATE AND HIGH VOLUMNE PUMP SET UP IN THE 2009 SE CATALOG A RELIABLE SET UP FOR THE STREET? WILL I GET MORE THAN 10,000 MILES BEFORE THIS P.O.S GIVES UP THE GHOST? ALSO THIS IS A STOCK ENGINE ONLY MODS ARE :AIR CLEANER,REJETTED CARB,V&H STRAIGHT SHOT EXHAUST.

Answer
I havent heard of this problem with the twin cam unless there is a alingment problem on the oil pump which would cause the same problem.
the SE cam plate and pump, as far as I know, is a good product that should give you no problems
Good luck and happy riding
